In evaluating and hiring an entertainment service, there is no such thing as a "stupid question." DJ ReRe welcomes any and all questions concerning your event and our service.
To help make your decision making easier, here are a few frequently asked questions:
First, I bring the highest level possible of personalized service to every event. If you are planning "just another event" then perhaps "just any DJ" will do; if you are planning a "special" event then perhaps you would like the entertainment to be "special".
I take the business seriously. I use only the finest commercial grade sound equipment and I keep my music library updated.
While some DJs do allow potential clients to come to the events where they are performing, I do not. Would YOU want strangers showing up at YOUR event? Would YOU want your DJ to be taking time away from YOUR event to try and sell his/her next booking to people you do not know? Out of courtesy to my clients and for the sake of basic professionalism, I guarantee that your event remains PRIVATE by not allowing potential clients to come. I will happily supply you with as many references as you wish from my client list. That way, you can talk personally with people who have seen me perform and know first hand how I handle events.
Absolutely! I can arrange for you to talk with some past clients. This is something that you should ask for from EVERY DJ company you interview. And if the company has a "multiple-operation" setup, make sure you know who YOUR DJ will be.
The rates for DJs associated with multiple-operation companies will generally cost between $300 and $700. Single-operation DJs will generally charge anywhere from $300 to $1000. The price will vary based on the type of event, their level of expertise and the personalized service.
I require an advance retainer payment of $100 at the time the contract is signed. This amount is deducted from your total, with the balance due the day of your event. I prefer to have all balances paid prior to the start of the event.
For payment, I accept personal checks, company checks, money orders, and cash.
Absolutely not. I set my own rates as professional entertainer. As such, a tip is NEVER expected. But if given, it would definitely be appreciated!
There is no charge for set-up, except in extreme circumstances (i.e. no elevator access to an upstairs event).
There is no charge for travel within a 50-mile radius of downtown Washington DC. Past 50 miles, I charge $3 per mile (computed on 1-way basis). Thus, if your location is 100 miles from downtown DC, the travel charge would be $150. When traveling to distant locations which require an overnight stay, I charge a flat lodging rate depending on the location.
Arrival time is approximately one hour prior to the scheduled starting time. This allows adequate time for set-up, equipment testing, sound checks, and changing clothes.
Many DJs view their total responsibility as showing up and playing music. My assistants and I are delighted to provide complete emcee services for your event as appropriate. We’ll happily handle all of the details so that you don’t have to worry about choreographing everything as it happens. You can relax and enjoy the day/evening along with your guests!
No! Unlike bands, I will provide continuous music and entertainment from the scheduled start time until the scheduled end time.
No. We are there to provide you and your guests with the finest in musical entertainment. As such, I feel it would be inappropriate to expect you to feed us. Most DJs expect this and will put their sound system on "auto pilot" while they consume YOUR FOOD on YOUR TIME. Some even REQUIRE a meal in their contract! I generally eat before and/or after the events on MY time and at MY expense.
The best answer is – Music that you want to hear! As a professional who has done many events, I know what works and what doesn’t. I also know how to “read the crowd” and follow their preferences. I take pride in my professional ability to provide a mix of music that will appeal to ALL tastes and ages, keeping the event fun for everybody. I believe in taking requests because that ensures that your guests are hearing the music that they enjoy. I do not guarantee that all requests will be played but I try to play as many as possible. My music library is extensive -- from the 1940’s through the current Top 40. Click here to view a representative list of songs and artists that will give you a good idea of the kind of music that I play.
Yes! I am delighted to play your music when I do not have a song that you would like to hear. I return your music to you after the event.
Generally, no. I say “generally” because the final decision on what is played is up to you. If a song contains obscene lyrics, I will NOT play the song unless specifically OK’d by the client IN PERSON at the DJ booth.
Absolutely! I encourage you to select some favorite songs that you would like for me to play. I will mix your requests with those I receive from your guests and then I add songs that I professionally know will work for your event. This combination makes for a successful event!
Yes! Lighting helps to create ambiance and makes any event more exciting and memorable. That Lady DJ offers basic "Party Lighting".
Yes! All of my sound and lighting equipment is “commercial grade” professional equipment, designed for use by mobile DJs. This is very important!
In the event of some catastrophic situation, I have many other high-quality professional DJs who I can call to substitute for me. My Assistant DJs are all professional DJs and can also work your event. You will NOT be left without a competent DJ.
